We are frequently asked how we met. The story is simply this. . .
Chris moved to a new city for a job, a city in which he knew noone but his four co-workers. He started to feel that any interaction might lead to a friendship and tried to make every interaction as intense as possible. One day was in a used bookstore having an intense interaction with the owner, Linda, who was telling him how bad his taste in authors was.
Sarah had also moved to the same city nearly alone. Being the most charming and lovely woman you can imagine this was no real difficulty, as she quickly made friends, including Linda, the bookstore owner.
At the end of Chris' intense interaction with Linda she said that though she had never done such a thing before she felt she knew just the right person for Chris, a girl named Sarah. Linda said things like, she is beautiful and all my sons are in love with her. While part of this was not entirely true, in some ways it was truer than Linda knew as Sarah was dating one of her sons. Chris, being interested in making new friends, left his name and email, not to hear from Sarah for some time.
After a couple of hurricanes Chris and Sarah met for ice cream and have scarcely gone a day without speaking since, even though she wore a tube top to their initial meeting and he the musk of a three hour tennis match.
Chris later had an opporunity to read Sarah's description of what she was looking for in a partner, it was en excellent description of Chris' opposite. There are many things about the story of Chris and Sarah Jane that let me know as silly as love and marriage are, sometimes it makes sense and feels those touched by it with joy.
